Timeless bespoke design and innovation: 70m CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball construction reaches key development stage.

Ancona, June 10, 2025 āĀ An epitome of bespoke, cutting-edge innovation, naval engineering, and refined Italian craftsmanship, CRN is building the vesselĀ CRNM/Y 145 Project Thunderball that is progressing with remarkable speed and striding towards the final phases of the construction. The hull and superstructure carpentry have been fully completed, marking a significant stage in the construction of this bespoke 70-metre steel and aluminium displacement superyacht. Launch and delivery is scheduled in 2026.
ThisĀ 70-metre steel and aluminium superyacht is fully custom and handcraftedĀ in her design, naval architecture and construction, combiningĀ CRNĀ andĀ Ferretti Group Superyachts DivisionĀ shipyard’s vesselĀ design, engineering expertise, build quality and know-how, with the experience of Dutch design studioĀ VripackYacht DesignĀ – which developed the exterior design, the preliminary naval architecture and preliminary general arrangement – and the creativity of theĀ Nauta DesignĀ studio, for the interior design and outdoor social areas.
Throughout the design development phase, the shipbuilder was responsible for engineering, finalizing the naval architecture and overall general arrangement, as well as managing the project until the delivery of the vessel.
Y.CO, which is acting as the ownerās representative and project management team, will support the owner with technical expertise and detailed oversight throughout the construction phase, liaising with the shipyard in the coordination of external contractors and managing inspections, supervision, and acceptance processes to ensure the project progresses to the highest standards and remains aligned with the ownerās vision.
The yacht features a classicĀ elongated bow, a sleek profile, and graceful, sailboat-inspired lines,Ā complemented by gently curved bilges and a seamless surface. The overall design prioritizes exceptional cruising efficiency and effortless manoeuvrability for a smooth sailing experience. The interior design concept by Nauta Design transcends trends and time, reflecting a deep connection to maritime culture. It showcases a sophisticated blend of timeless details, merging heritage with a modern, refined aesthetic that reinterprets these elements from a contemporary lifestyle perspective.
Exterior outfitting progress
Summer 2025 will mark a pivotal moment for the exterior of M/Y 145 Project Thunderball, as the fairing phase will reach completion by the end of the summer. Work continues to advance steadily across all the decks with fitting operations and on-board systems installation progressing with precision. The meticulous craftsmanship extends to the yachtās structural elements, with the installation of metal decorative components nearly completed. Meanwhile, the design and fabrication of the wooden exterior fixtures are in full swing, requiring exceptional attention to detail.
Full hull paintingĀ is scheduled to begin in September 2025, following the priming and fairing processes, in line with the construction timeline.
Interiors milestones
According to yachtās construction timeline,Ā interior compartmentalization has been completedĀ in April, with the installation of structural furniture for the guest and crew lower deck to commence by summer. The ownerās Deck VIP areas are also advancing at a steady pace, with the first fully finished cabins expected to be installed between June and July. Inspections of completed cabin sections are already underway to ensure that the highest standards of craftsmanship are met.
On the main deck, insulation work in key areas such as the main saloon and wheelhouse has been completed, with compartmentalization currently ongoing.
AĀ key milestoneĀ in the interior outfitting process will be theĀ installation of initial furniture pieces on board, anticipated between late spring and early summer. This marks a transformative phase, where the yachtās unique ambiance will begin to take shape, showcasing refined woodwork, luxurious finishes, and bespokeĀ detailing accordingĀ to the ownerās vision and requests.

In addition, with this superyacht, the shipyard continues its commitment toĀ sustainable yacht design, focusing on the development of energy recovery solutions and the precise sizing of the vesselās equipment. This fully customized megayacht is equipped with a peak shaving system to enhance energy efficiency and significantly reduce fuel consumption. This system optimizes onboard power management, enabling seamless control of utilities and allowing for silent mode operation while at anchor. Aligned with the latest advancements in sustainability, it significantly enhances energy efficiency and reduces overall consumption.
Project Thunderball has developed the layout inĀ 5 decks, aĀ length overall of 70 metres,Ā with aĀ beam of 11Ā metresĀ andĀ 1,100 GT. She can accommodateĀ up to 12 guestsĀ inĀ 1 owner suiteĀ andĀ 5 VIP cabins, as well asĀ 15 crewĀ in 9 cabins of exceptional comfort. Performance-wise, the yacht is equipped withĀ MAN V12-1213kWĀ engines, providing her with aĀ top speed of 16 knotsĀ and aĀ cruising speed of 12 knots.
